NWS Milwaukee - The cold temperatures experienced across Wisconsin this week have also led to an increase in ice forming along the Lake Michigan shore.
This loop is from Jan 13 through Jan 16 (minus Jan 14 due to cloud cover). Notice the rapid increase in the extent of ice along the entire coast. The ice now reaches approximately 10 miles offshore. The darker strip immediately off the shore indicates where ice is pushing away from the shore thanks to strong westerly winds.
