Storms To Continue In Midwest

The southern Plains will once again become the target of severe weather tonight. Intense thunderstorms will fire across southeastern Oklahoma, northeastern Texas and western Arkansas, then reach the Mississippi River by daybreak. A cold front slicing into a steamy air mass from the Gulf of Mexico will trigger the thunderstorms.

These severe thunderstorms have potential to produce damaging winds and large hail. A tornado or two could touch down and cause destruction. Any downpours dropped by the thunderstorms could lead to dangerous flooding. This risk is especially high, since heavy rain has recently inundated the region.
